Walmart & Edelman... again

I've come late to this story having been utterly immersed in the first session of my CIPR Diploma recently.

On first glance some bloggers are rounding on Edelman for faking a blog campaign for its client Wal-mart. The blog followed a couple travelling across America while staying in Wal-mart carparks.

However, it doesn't seem to be as simple as that as the ever astute Constantin Basturea points out:

"According to SourceWatch, Herald Group — not Edelman — is directing the PR campaigns for Working Families for Wal-Mart, the organization that sponsored the Wal-Marting… blog."

So Edelman may be in the clear over this one.... but if that is the case, Edelman's enduring silence over the affair isn't helping them.

Constantin gives us three lessons learned from the story and a full round-up of other bloggers talking about it here.
